  13. in order to use a local database, we have to be able to emulate
  14. a vt100, complete with function keys. we'd like to use something
  15. like xvttool, or tooltool, but xvttool is written for xview and
  16. tooltool is written for sunview, and we don't run openwindows.
  17. I have tried running a binary version of xvttool that was compiled
  18. elsewhere, but it's not quite right under pure X11R5.

  22. (an alternative solution would be to remap the keyboard, but we'd
  23. only want to do that for the one window that's using the database.
  24. it seems that xmodmap remaps the server, so that's not suitable.)
