- can i presume that you mean like screwdrivers, side cutters, etc? as in hardware?
- well personnaly (as a hw design kinda guy, nowhere near even a wizardly dweeb)
- id a kit which has the parts you like, then go purchase a zero hallberon case,
- then fill it with the aforementiond parts, only manufactured by xcellite.
- from what i've seen sold in kits most of it is pure d simple junk! priced
- about 5 times what it goes for when sold in a convienience store. it's a nice
- idea but the execution leaves a bit to be desired (as *they* say).
- go find a decent tv repair shop, you know the kind where the last of the great
- gnurds works/ownes and as him either for an old catalog or the address of
- where he buys his stuff 7 out of 10 times (yea i just made it up) he buys
- the good stuff and can point you the way to it. avoid hardware stores
- they'll only be able to provide the most basic of items (always avoid the
- chain store as they only provide the crap put out by fast buck japannese
- and far east mom and pop shops. always avoid radio shack for the same reason).
- you said you wanted the good stuff? well this is how ya get it. it ain't
- cheep, but i am still using hand tools purchased in the very early '70's.
- expensive? yes. are they lasting? what do you think. untill about 5 years ago
- i *only* did hw. now i'm slowly evolving to only doing sw. i may rank as
- a wizards apprentice helper 3rd class. (but i bet i can do 1 or 2 things with
- the hw that a few of you don't know about :-)
- oh yea why don't i do hw anymore? i got discusted wheb the bankers shut down
- eta systems.
- later.
