  29. Less than that; when I graduated in 1988 it was selling 16 oz. bottles
  30. for $.25, when most other places were selling 12 oz. cans for $.50 or
  31. more.

  33. However, the machine was in the grad CS lab as I mentioned yesterday;
  34. you needed a special key (or a friendship with someone with such a key
  35. :) to get in.  For a while they also had an M&M machine in there which
  36. distributed a huge handful of M&M's for $.10.

  38. Actually I almost missed my own graduation ceremony because of that
  39. coke machine [nostalgic story follows; press `n' now!]: at CMU we had
  40. a larger ceremony for the whole university, then each department split
  41. up and handed out diplomas to its students.  In that intermission a
  42. friend and I decided we *needed* a coke, and figuring it would take at
  43. least a half-hour to set up the smaller ceremony we wandered over to
  44. get one.

  46. When we got back they were already over half-way through handing out
  47. the diplomas.  Luckily both our names begin with `S' so they hadn't
  48. got to us yet; but our row was lined up to get on stage already, so we
  49. just wandered down the row asking people their last name until we
  50. found the proper place, and jumped in :-).

  52. Sad to hear it's gone though.  I suppose whomever owns the current
  53. vending machine wouldn't be too thrilled about having people muck with
  54. the hardware :(.
