  11. We recently got some nifty new DECserver 90L+ (or some such name) terminal
  12. servers.  So I go to configure them, and it says right there in black & white
  13. if you want all 8 ports to be PRINT rather than TERM (which we did want) that
  14. you can't configure (the last port) using a terminal attached to the server,
  15. you have to use a network management connection (ok, I can live with that).
  16. So I follow the instructions to "addnode ..." and then do "ccr ...".
  17. Well here's what I get:

  20.     ccr: Remote console reserved
  21.         ->                                            (prompt from server)
  22.  
  23. at this point I'm thinking, wow this is easy -- BZZZT wrong answer.
  24. I can't type anything now, it just sits there no matter what I type,
  25. can't even break out.  All I can do is login again and kill the process.
  26. Well, I try everything over thinking I screwed up, no luck, try it on
  27. two more DECstations (ultrix 4.2 & 4.2a), still no luck.

  29. Finally in desperation, I go over and use the VAX and follow those
  30. instructions, works perfectly -- how embarrasing for a unix bigot like me :-(
