- We recently got some nifty new DECserver 90L+ (or some such name) terminal
- servers. So I go to configure them, and it says right there in black & white
- if you want all 8 ports to be PRINT rather than TERM (which we did want) that
- you can't configure (the last port) using a terminal attached to the server,
- you have to use a network management connection (ok, I can live with that).
- So I follow the instructions to "addnode ..." and then do "ccr ...".
- Well here's what I get:
-
- # ccr ...
- ccr: Remote console reserved
- -> (prompt from server)
-
- at this point I'm thinking, wow this is easy -- BZZZT wrong answer.
- I can't type anything now, it just sits there no matter what I type,
- can't even break out. All I can do is login again and kill the process.
- Well, I try everything over thinking I screwed up, no luck, try it on
- two more DECstations (ultrix 4.2 & 4.2a), still no luck.
-
- Finally in desperation, I go over and use the VAX and follow those
- instructions, works perfectly -- how embarrasing for a unix bigot like me :-(

- (and of course "ccr" is not included in our ultrix sources, grrr)
