- We recently had a rather odd thing happen to us using
- PacerShare and Ultrix 4.2 Our environment uses Mac's to do
- Cad work in conjunction with Intergraph workstations and an Ultrix
- Decstation 5000 file server. The file server runs Pacer-share to
- give file sharing/access to Mac's. The Mac's run Intergraph's
- Microstation software and are all system 7 boxes.
- Just to mix things up a bit, some of the workstations are also
- IBM PC's running microstation and PC-NFS from sSun to access files on
- the server.
- We have a design file that was created by one of the PC's on a
- directory in the server. If you observe it from the PC it's fine.
- If you click it open from a MAC, the design file is corrupted.
- Design elements moved, lines drawn in the wrong place and so on.
- If we take the design file and use FTP to tr ansfer it to a
- VAX/VMS box running Pathworks/Mac, and click it open, then it looks
- ok. If we ftp the file from the fileserver to the MAC
- then it's Ok.
- This is 100% repeatable.
- SO the question. Are there known pacer problems that cause this?
- Is pacer a piece of junk as I'm beginning to fear? Doeas anyone
- have suggestions?`
- Thanks,
- RF
