- I asked this question several months ago and have been told that since
- Fortran (and other packages like PHIGS) do not support LMF, there is
- no way to distribute them on CDROM. But the reason why they are not
- LMF compliant is because there are so many customers who purchased
- these packages a long time ago (before LMF and PAKs existed), that DEC
- has not found a way to locate and distribute PAKs to them!!!! Yes it
- sounds bad especially since the same problem with all those VMS users
- and applications has been fixed.
-
- Motif 1.1.3 is on the June CDROM, so that problem has been fixed.
- (I've heard the August distribution is only an update, so you'll need
- to get the June distribution for Motif).
-
- Of course there is at least one other package which is LMF compliant and
- is still not on CDROM: DECwrite. In the latest CDROM they have added VUIT,
- so if we get one of these older packages added every other month, I'll be happy.
