- seems like a decstation 3100 can boot with a wren 9 as the root/boot device,
- but a 5000 hangs doing the first read of /vmunix (ultrixboot gets
- read and starts ok). this is very similar to a problem we've seen
- on other drives ... some maxtors for example would boot on 3100s
- but not on 5000s. we ending up getting firmware updates from
- maxtor to fix that. if you have, for example, Maxtor 8760S drives
- on 5000s, you want something newer than rev level B5A on the drive.
- We are using B6G.
-
- anyone out there with a wren 9/5000 that works? wren 9 works fine
- when not the boot disk on the system. any tips would save time and
- effort of trying to remember more precisely the problem or scsi-protocol
- analyzing, etc.
-
- thanks.
