  12. seems like a decstation 3100 can boot with a wren 9 as the root/boot device,
  13. but a 5000 hangs doing the first read of /vmunix (ultrixboot gets
  14. read and starts ok).  this is very similar to a problem we've seen
  15. on other drives ... some maxtors for example would boot on 3100s
  16. but not on 5000s.  we ending up getting firmware updates from
  17. maxtor to fix that.  if you have, for example, Maxtor 8760S drives
  18. on 5000s, you want something newer than rev level B5A on the drive.
  19. We are using B6G.

  21. anyone out there with a wren 9/5000 that works?  wren 9 works fine
  22. when not the boot disk on the system.  any tips would save time and
  23. effort of trying to remember more precisely the problem or scsi-protocol
  24. analyzing, etc.
