- I've tried to compile a few X windows applications (Ultrix 4.2) that
- were ftp'd from various sources, and I read things like "R5 version of
- X windows" and find out that there are missing headers files in
- /usr/lib/X11 that describe things necessary for compilation.
-
- My assumption is that our installed version of X windows is too low,
- and that "R5" must be revision five. Indeed, gatekeeper.dec.com
- appears to feature a fifth revision.
-
- How can I find out what version is currenly installed on our system?
- The manual pages don't list what version is currently installed, and no
- files are sitting around in /usr/bin/X11 or /usr/lib/X11 describing the
- installation or version.
