- Problem:
-
- Can only print short documents.
-
- Description:
-
- All printers have been set up as remote (ie: printcap entries include
- rm=<value> and rp=<value>). It just so happens that output is directed to a
- VMS machine where DQS (Distributed Queueing Service) software is used to
- pass the output to another VMS machine's queue.
-
- The resulting error messages are printed to the target printer and read
- something like:
-
- %PMS-E-READER, errr reading _HSCOOO$DUA0:[SYSCOMMON.DQS$SERVER]_PP_15757_7.LPD
- -RMS-W-RTB, 189339 byte record too large for user's buffer
-
- The size of the record varies depending in the job.
-
- This is most notable when using WordPerfect 5.0. It should be noted that the
- same printers function 100% for DOS users unde Pathworks 4.1
-
- Questions:
-
- There must be a simple fix for this. Changing a printcap entry? Changing a
- VMS value to allow larger record sizes (or getting our VMS manager to :-))?
- Is this a result of stream vs. fixed record output?
-
- Any comments/suggestions are welcomed.
