- For those regular readers who have been following my quest to make the serial
- i/o on the ISC system work properly, what really did the trick was the FAS
- 2.10 driver.
-
- I just installed the 2.10 driver last night. (I was playing around with the
- 2.09, but since the 2.10 was posted a few days ago ...)
-
- With the FAS 2.10, this is the first time that everything works the way it is
- supposed to. Using regular getty, the serial port can be used for both
- incoming and outgoing calls. When the line is opened for outbound access,
- getty backs off and the calling process has a clean shot at the modem. When
- this closes the line, getty cleanly resumes. There's no fighting, no CAN'T
- ACCESS DEVICE, messages, no infinite respawns, no port lockups, etc.
-
- I for one appreciate the posting of it here, as I'm sure many of the others
- will benefit from it as well.
-
- Good day JSW
