- I'm having some problems related to serial ports on ESIX SVR4.04.
-
- Problem # 1 - DTR not dropping
-
- When a user 'exit's or '^D' from their account to log out (or if the
- application that was run should log them off the system, DTR is not
- being dropped to tell the modem to disconnect the connections. Instead,
- the user is logged out of their account, but is still connected to the
- system. Waiting a moment or two and pressing ENTER gets them the login
- prompt again...
-
- I've looked at the settings for the ports and hangup is set (don't recall
- the actual wording of that setting) but doesn't seem to have any effect.
-
- Using CU to the modem direct or when calling a system, DTR is dropped
- (very quickly) when you ~. the connection so it's not the modem
- that is at fault here.
-
- Problem # 2 - No /etc/issue sent on login via modem
-
- When a user logs into the system via modem, the contents of /etc/issue is
- not displayed. Instead, there are some garbage characters followed by the
- login propt. Unlike at the consoles, pressing ENTER just provides another
- login prompt still without the /etc/issue being displayed.
- (works fine on the consoles).
-
- Problem # 3 - CU screwups.
-
- Many times (right now most times) CU refuses to access the port saying
- Can't access port (something close to that). But if you use Uutry (uucico)
- everything works just fine. Same port, same channel ...
-
- Another annoying problem is that sometimes when using CU, characters received
- from the modem don't appear on the screen. I've even gone so far as to
- blindly log into a system and issue commands and watch the modem happily
- receiving data without anything showing up on the screen.
-
- -
-
- All of these items worked under ESIX SVR4.03 but don't appear to be working
- under 4.04. All might be related?? Anyone else run into these problems.
