- I have an IBM (aka Sony) 6091/016 monitor (the only HONEST vendor - saying
- that their 17 is really a 16 in VIEWABLE area). The tube is a trinitron and
- is run at 1280x1024 (NOT on PC Unix by far, or on a PC at all). However,
- I have never seen a moire pattern on a trinitron tube - and I've dealt with
- lots of them (mostly IBM's, from the 6091/016, 5081/016, 5081/019, 6091/019).
- However, I do experience the pattern on non-Trinitron tubes, including
- Tatung 15"'s and 19"'s, Max 15"'s, NEC (all brands and types on a variety
- of platforms.) It seems that the stipple background of X just loves
- to create moires on anything but a Trinitron (though I don't like the
- 4x4 "grid" that is just barely visible on the trinitron - it is a thin,
- thin line, two vertically and two horizontally - it is only apprent on
- text that hits the line and not terribly obtrusive, but notable.)
