- Has anyone installed and used a scanner, such as HP's ScanJet, on a
- [3|4]86 system with Dell's SVR4 and Merge to handle vendor supplied DOS
- interfacing to the scanner?
-
- This question subdivides into two issues:
-
- 1. Problems with DOS procedures, supplied with hardware, handling
- bus I/O devices and
-
- 2. Can Microsoft Windows, often required by vendor interfaces, be
- handled under Merge---with or without X11 running?
-
- An ancillary question is: can commercial DOS OCR programs be used in
- this environment or, better yet, are there any viable OCR software
- available for SVR4 Unix?
-
- I would greatly appreciate any comments.
-
- Mainly, am I crazy to even attempt this?
-
- Thanks.
