  13. I too am a bit miffed that we have to have com1 and com2. We had this
  14. discussion when the linux serial ports were looked at. Personally I
  15. think it's more important to comply with the rest of the unix world than
  16. it is to pacify the DOS users. I'm all in favour of easing the
  17. transition from DOS to unix but they're going to have a bit of a shock
  18. when they find everything else is zero based. They're going to be even
  19. more shocked when they find com1 and com2 don't even exist on other unix
  20. boxes.

  22. This change seems to be causing more confusion than anything else. Those
  23. die hard unix people feel uncomfortable with it and those with less
  24. experience are getting confused by conflicting messages relating to
  25. different com numbers. I think we should change back to zero based com
  26. ports.
