  15. Hi all, I am a semi happy 2.1 Amiga Unix user...

  17. I recently got olwm to start via xdm instead of twm and it does look
  18. really nice!

  20. Problem is, the kernel bug stated in the addendum for 2.1
  21. (where the swap space gradually dissolves away until there is no more..)
  22. is really apparent now.
  23.  
  24. Every program that I run seem to eat up and never return some of the swap 
  25. space. (via swap -s)
  26.  
  27. This slow death is extremely noticeable when under olwm/twm etc.. such
  28. that I can only start and stop a small number of tasks before my 27mb
  29. of swap is reduced to microscopic amounts.

  31. This happens even w/o olwm active, alhough the progression is slower.
  32.  
  33. Now, this neccessitates the shutdown/rebooting of the machines every
  34. 2-3 days of normal (non olwm) useage..

  36. The question I have is..

  38. AM I THE ONLY NE WHO IS TICKED OFF AT THIS??

  40. If not, was there a FAQ somemwhere that explains how to stop it from 
  41. happening??

  43. Is there a fix for this bug?? I remember bits of a "fix disk" fo 2.1
  44. (or was that  2.03 that I am confusing with??)

  46. I waited ~1 year for 2.1 to come out, shelled out my meager savings
  47. to upgrade from 1.1, and now I find this... (sigh.....)

  49. If there *is* a fix too this problem, someone please point me to it!

  51. Second query, if a A3000 has full 16mb of memory, are additional
  52. fastram from 040 cards mapped as contiguous?? (I am speaking of
  53. the PP&S Mercury)

  55. That is, can I use the fast ram from an accelerator card even if
  56. unix doesn't function with an 040??
