  13. 1. How do you get rid of <defunct> processes?
  14.    I tried the usual kill and kill -9 but they refuse to die.
  15.    They seem to stick around until the next cold boot.

  17. 2. How do you check who/what is keeping a harddisk device busy?
  18.    When I tried to unmount a harddisk (/home), it gave me a message
  19.     "DEVICE BUSY", even though I was the only one logged in (as root)
  20.     and other login is disabled and my current working directory is
  21.     not in it.  How do I check what application or daemon is keeping
  22.     it in a busy state?
