- Has anyone seen a problem where processes vanish for no good
- reason?
-
- We know about the paging space issues, and have increase our
- paging space until it is now only about 40% used, leaving 64MB
- or more free.
-
- We used the AIX trace facility to verify that there were no
- kill system calls sending signals to the processes that die.
-
- We are currently trying to use the trace facility to determine
- if the kernel is sending signals to the dying processes for
- some other reason, but the script we are using to stop the
- trace when a target process is gone seems to be one of the
- first processes to die.
-
- We are running on a model 350, with 64MB, 128MB of paging space.
- We are running Sybase 4.2, and our application that uses a number
- of processes communicating through System V IPC facilities. There
- is no other non-AIX software running on the machine.
-
- We have seen both our processes and the Sybase dataserver process
- vanish.
-
- Has anyone seen anything like this before?
