- My recommendation would be to at least put your user data in a separate volume
- group. This way your user data is not exposed to update problems or, heaven
- forbid, reinstallations of the OS. If you had to reinstall for some reason you
- would just install on the non-user data disks and then import the user data
- volume group. If your user data is on /u or /home or another filesystem that
- is created by default during installation then you should remove the one in the
- rootvg before importing the user data volume group.
-
- So I would definitely recommend at least two volume groups, one for the rootvg
- and one for user data. I personally keep my page space in its own vg. It is
- possible in a multi-disk volume group to specify which logical volumes go on
- which disks, but I find it simpler just to create another volume group since
- I dedicate one disk to my paging space.
