- I'm setting up two brand new 220's, each with 32MB RAM and 400MB disk. I
- ordered the machines preloaded, and the machines arrived with only 20MB
- free disk space! The preload stuff, plus a 64MB paging space, takes up
- 380MB!
-
- I want to delete stuff, but I don't know what is safe to toss. Both machines
- have CDROMs and the InfoExplorer CD. I think that means that I can delete
- all the InfoExplorer stuff, right? Or do I have to leave a little bit on
- there to access the CD?
-
- What else takes up a lot of space and is pretty much junk? I won't need
- any of the text processing stuff (TROFF, etc), and none of the compiler
- development stuff (yacc, lex). Neither do I need X-windows development
- stuff, although I'll be using the AIX/Windows environment. I'll also be
- developing C programs.
-
- Assuming I can get rid of that stuff, how do I? I can't find any documentation
- that says what libraries or objects I can delete to remove these unnecessary
- components.
-
- And I'm open to other suggestions.
-
- I have an AIX guru making a list of things he believes I can delete, but
- I didn't realize the problem was so severe. I'm hoping there is a magic
- command buried somewhere to automate this chore.
