- Interesting. We are running v3.1.8 and get a similiar error
- while running dump across a pipe to an IRIS. It has something
- to do with stdout being the file and using a network connection.
- I was able to do dumps into pipes with no problems, as long as
- the pipe didn't access the network.

- I don't know if you will see this, but we usually have a runaway
- process lurking in the background around the same time that the
- dump gets run. So far, I think every time we've gotten the
- broken pipe error, there was one running in the background.
