  30.     Interesting.  We are running v3.1.8 and get a similiar error
  31.     while running dump across a pipe to an IRIS.  It has something
  32.     to do with stdout being the file and using a network connection.
  33.     I was able to do dumps into pipes with no problems, as long as
  34.     the pipe didn't access the network.

  36.     I don't know if you will see this, but we usually have a runaway
  37.     process lurking in the background around the same time that the
  38.     dump gets run.  So far, I think every time we've gotten the 
  39.     broken pipe error, there was one running in the background.
