- I have modified fingerd so that it fingers back. It writes to a log
- file the IP address the finger came from, the person fingered (if any)
- and the date. The finger-backs create (or append to) a file named by
- the IP address, so I have a log for each host that fingers my site.
-
- I am willing to share my changes but only if I can get a copy of
- fingerd that is truly free. That is to say I don't want to share my
- exact copy because my source code license may not apply to everyone
- on the net. If someone can point me to a FREE copy of fingerd, I will
- apply my patches and make them available to the curious.
-
- Oh, in case you are curious, I keep a lock for each host for a few
- minutes. If there is a lock on a host, I do not finger it back.
- This prevents endless loops.
