- Big problem with routing on a Convex C210.
-
- I have installed a SLIP connection from a PC (running MS-DOS 5.0 and
- Sun's PC-NFS Vers. 3.5) to a Convex machine running a BSD derived
- Convex OS (Version 9.1.0.0.4) over a null modem cable.
- There is also a DEC-Station 5000/200 running Ultrix connected to
- the Convex via Ethernet. The SLIP connection works fine, but routing
- from the the serial line to other hosts is not done by the Convex!!!!
-
- The addresses are as follows:
-
- Machine Name Address Comment
- Convex hgrcvx 141.201.10.2 ethernet
- Convex slip_gate 141.201.50.20 serial line
- DECStation hgrds5 141.201.10.3 ethernet
- PC pc_slip 141.201.50.21 serial line
-
- The names hgrcvx, hgrds5, slip_gate, pc_slip and their addresses are
- noted in every's machine /etc/hosts.
- NIS is NOT running on any machine!
-
- From the PC the only reachable host is hgrcvx.
- From the Convex every machine is reachable (checked by ping, telnet, etc.).
-
- My previous trials were running and stopping the routed daemon on the Convex,
- making static and dynamic routing tables.
- I also "said" to PC-NFS that there is a route from pc_slip to hgrds5
- using hgrcvx as a gateway.
-
-
- Does anybody know what my mistake(s) is(are) or where the problem is?
- Please send mail to me or post it in this newsgroup.
-
- Thanks in advance.
