  12. TWO PROFESSOR POSITIONS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KIEL (Germany)

  17. At Christian-Albrechts-Universitaet Kiel (Germany), and in the process of
  18. establishing a "Technische Fakultaet" (Technical School with the disciplines
  19. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Material Science), the
  20. following new professor positions are open in the Institute of Informatics
  21. (Computer Science) and Practical Mathematics:
  22.  
  23. (1)  PROFESSOR (C3) OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
  24. This professor position should represent the field "THEORY OF PARALLELISM".
  25. The applicant should be qualified by research in areas such as:
  26. Parallel/distributed algorithms, complexity of parallel computation, theory
  27. of parallel processes, VLSI-theory.
  28.  
  29. (2)  PROFESSOR (C3) OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
  30. This professor position should represent the field "COMPUTER-AIDED PROGRAM
  31. DEVELOPMENT".
  32. The applicant should be qualified by research in areas such as: Methods of
  33. correct program development, automatic generation of programs from formal
  34. specifications, program and process calculi and their implementation,
  35. computer-aided software-engineering (CASE) and its foundation. Application
  36. oriented cooperation for example with a planned CASE-center is desired.

  38. For both professor positions, participation in courses of the basic and
  39. advanced studies is expected (e.g. for the curricula "Diplom-Informatiker/in"
  40. and "Diplom-Ingenieur/in" in computer science), as well as interest in
  41. interdisciplinary cooperation with other research groups especially in the
  42. Technical Faculty and the Faculty of Science.
  43. Habilitation or equivalent scientific performance, e.g. in industrial
  44. research, is required.
  45. The university takes efforts in increasing the proportion of female
  46. researchers. It therefore encourages qualified women to apply.
