  11. Hi, 
  12.     I would appreciate it if someone could give me a hand with some
  13. problems I have been having in formatting a latex document.
  14. Currently, I am writing my thesis using a .sty file which is supposed to be the
  15. approved format of the dept. that I am in (uiuc).  The problems are as follows:

  17. 1. The chapter, section etc, headings are too large.  If I try to make them
  18. smaller using the smallchapters.sty, the headings are no longer centered,
  19. rather they are left justified. How do I either, make the headings smaller, or
  20. center justify the headings from smallchapters.sty ?

  22. 2. Table captions are below the tables. I need to place them above the table.
