- I wrote a LaTeX document with the "letter" style in which I did a few
- environments defined by \newtheorem. In some of those I put \labels
- and then tried to refer to them with \ref. Now I just got undefined
- reference warnings when compiling the document. I played around a bit
- and just changing the document style to "report" (and removing the
- \heading and \closing stuff etc.) was sufficient for me to get my
- references OK.
-
- I looked in latex.tex and it seems it defines default values for
- theorem numbering and does a \refstepcounter as it should and couldn't
- find anywhere in letter.sty where this is shut off - it does
- *something* with jobname.aux, so it doesn't just ignore the file.
-
- Anyone know what's going on?
