- steve simmons (comp.text.tex, 12 august 1992) is looking for
- size-independent computer modern fonts.
- what he is looking for does not exist. computer modern is based
- on the philosophy that different sizes require certain variations
- in design that are not implementable through linear scaling, and
- i have yet to see a run-time font-generating system that provides
- for the rather large number and different kinds of parameters that
- are used to control the particular cm variations specified by the
- designer (knuth). maybe sometime, but not yet, and not unless
- knuth says the result is cm.
