- Hi all,
- I am the *proud* owner of a Tandy FD1400 laptop. I bought it several
- years ago from the local Radio Shack dealer. This wonderful machine has
- two 3 1/2 low density floppy drives. The catalog says that I can upgrade
- the machine with a hard drive (20 meg?) for the low, low price of $1200.
-
- I personally think this is an outrageous price and am looking for any
- alternatives or suggestions. Is there a standard drive I can buy and
- install or would I be better off investing in a Toshiba or other state of
- the art system? I would like to think that the 106Mb drive I bought the
- other day for one of our systems at the office would also work in my
- laptop. After all, the footprint is the same.
-
- Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
-
- Oh, and while we're on the subject, what about internal modems? Again RS
- is proud of theirs at $200+ for this system. I'm currently using a pocket
- size modem that screws onto com1 but it is a bit awkward and gets in the
- way of my printer cable.
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Ron
