  12. Hi all,
  13. I am the *proud* owner of a Tandy FD1400 laptop.  I bought it several
  14. years ago from the local Radio Shack dealer.  This wonderful machine has
  15. two 3 1/2 low density floppy drives.  The catalog says that I can upgrade
  16. the machine with a hard drive (20 meg?) for the low, low price of $1200.
  17.  
  18. I personally think this is an outrageous price and am looking for any
  19. alternatives or suggestions.  Is there a standard drive I can buy and
  20. install or would I be better off investing in a Toshiba or other state of
  21. the art system?  I would like to think that the 106Mb drive I bought the
  22. other day for one of our systems at the office would also work in my
  23. laptop.  After all, the footprint is the same.

  25. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  27. Oh, and while we're on the subject, what about internal modems?  Again RS
  28. is proud of theirs at $200+ for this system.  I'm currently using a pocket
  29. size modem that screws onto com1 but it is a bit awkward and gets in the
  30. way of my printer cable.
