- I have been shopping around for a Token Ring card for my
- SPARCstation IPX. Most vendors have cards for the VME
- buses and cost approximately $3000 (with driver). I need
- a card for the S-Bus and have found one made by Aurora Inc.
- and selling for $1000.
-
- My concern is why is the S-Bus card so cheap. Am I missing
- something here ? I mean, will I take a performance hit with
- such a card because most of the protocols are perhaps implemented
- in software ? Has anyone tried the Aurora cards ? Any other
- recommendations ?
-
- As an aside, what is the difference between the VME bus and
- the S-bus architectures ?
-
- Thanks in advance.
