  12. Recent notes about sampling audio from CD-ROM's have caught my eye.  My lab
  13. does audio testing, and it would be very useful to computer control a CD
  14. with the word and syllable sequences on it, to automate the gain settings
  15. and randomize the sequences. I know that there are structures for
  16. manipulating audio in the cdromio manpage, but does anyone have some
  17. freeware or shareware for playing short sounds from the CD drive? 
  18.  
  19. I suspect we'd have to do our own indexing of the specific CD, but it would
  20. beat the heck out of the cassette tapes we're using for this now.
