  17. I know of two I can recommend: one is an Sbus card made by a company
  18. called CO/Systems. They make a version with 8 serial and one parallel
  19. port per card, as well as other combinations. It uses an on-board
  20. controller to lower the interrupt rate and consequently the load on the
  21. host CPU. They also have VME 6U and 9U versions and support sun3
  22. architectures, last I checked.

  24. Another is Central Data's line of SCSI serial expansion devices.
  25. They hook into your SCSI chain(s) and look and feel just like the
  26. typical Sbus expanders. It's not quite as good a solution, since it is
  27. an independantly powered intelligent device, which makes it not quite as
  28. subservient as if it was plugged directly into the machine's innards,
  29. but I have gotten good service out of it. And, of course, it's really
  30. the only choice for people with [SE]LCs. They have versions with two
  31. serial one parallel, 8 serial one parallel and 16 serial, as well as
  32. other configurations.

  34. In have used both products extensively and they pass my requirements.
  35. In both cases, I discovered a bug but also in both cases it was fixed
  36. quickly and patches were free.
