- Hello
-
- We have a Panasonic KXP4455 laser printer connected to our network.
- The problem is when the users print postscript files created by certain
- programs on various systems, the printer starts spewing out the postscript code
- instead of printing the image. THis is because these postscript files have only
- "%!" in the first line instead of "%!PS-Adobex.x".
- A lot of pages are getting wasted because of this. The only way to stop this is
- to log on to the print server(a SPARC SLC) as the root and cancel the printjob.
- By that time a number of pages will already have been sent to the printer.
-
- If the printjob is given from a NeXT, it is worse. I cannot cancel it from the
- print server even as a root and also cannot cancel it from a terminal window on
- the NeXT. The only way is load the Print Manager on the NeXT(which takes some
- time to load) and use it to cancel.
-
- Is there a way to overcome this? Has anybody come across this problem? If we
- have a filter that changes "%!" to "%!PS-Adobe3.0" will it work? I would
- appreciate if anybody has a solution for this.
-
- Please respond by email and I'll summarise the responses.
-
- Thanks
-
- Ramesh
