- Hello,
-
- I was trying to boot a diskless sun 3/50s (Muaddib.acus.uh.edu) off our
- campus ethernet. At this time the tftp process is seems to be working, but
- Muaddib has problems creating its kernel processes. The messages displayed
- after a successful tftp download were:
-
- Downloaded 101800 bytes from tftp server
- Using IP address 129.7.3.51=8170333
- hostname: Muaddib.acus.uh.edu
- server name: lisa.phys.uh.edu
- root pathname: /usr/client
- root on lisa.phys.uh.edu:/usr/client fstype nfs
- Boot: vmunix
- Size: 376816+89624+64920 bytes
- panic: can't create kernel processes
- syncing file systems ... done
- 0000 low-memory static kernel pages
- 0000 additional user structure pages
- 0000 segmap kernel pages
- 0000 segvn kernal pages
- 0000 current user process pages
- 0000 total stack pages
- 0000 total pages (0 chunks)
-
- dumping to vp f009d7c, offset -47
- nfs_dump. status 22
- 0 total pages, dump i/o error
-
- rebooting ...
-
- From these messages can we deduce that Muaddib has accessed its root file
- system on the server and has started executing its kernel?
-
- Any pointers on how I should go about resolving this problem will be greatly
- appreciated.
-
- Thank you
