-
- There is a bootable kernal on the CD that you boot from to install.
-
- In case it helps, installation goes like this.
-
- 1. You boot from the micro-kernal on the ROM and are able to format
- and partition your disk.
-
- 2. A mini-kernal is installed on the b ( what will eventually become
- the swap partition ) partition of your drive and you reboot from
- that.
-
- 3. You install the real kernal and the rest of the operating system
- while running from the mini-kernal. ( One caveat is that, though
- you can re-partition your drive at this point, you cannot change
- the size of your a ( root ) partition since the partition you are
- running from physically follows it and you write over your running
- kernal. I tried this, it doesn't work. )
-
- 4. You reboot from your permanent kernal and you are up and running.
-
- You can rebuild that kernal to remove the CD-ROM drivers, but the default
- kernal has them built in.

- If you want to know about 3rd party ROM drives you might want to call
- Workstations Plus, in California, 800-735-5777. Ask for Carrie, she
- loves me. They OEM a lot of stuff like that.
-
- Hope it helps...
