  10. In SunOS 4.1.2, is it possible tun run DNS without NIS?  I suspect that
  11. some resolver routines would have to be replaced and libaries
  12. relinked. Is this feasible?

  14. The reason I ask is that I am trying to get DNS up and running on a
  15. single Sun - not attached to any large Sun network - so I don't need NIS.

  17. Perhaps more importantly, the OS that is installed doesn't have yp 
  18. installed, and I don't know how to install
  19. just the yp files from the distribution cd-rom. (when I run 'ypinit'
  20. it complains that 'The directory /var/yp doesn't exist.  Restore it from
  21. the distribution.' - nice idea, but how?).
