- In SunOS 4.1.2, is it possible tun run DNS without NIS? I suspect that
- some resolver routines would have to be replaced and libaries
- relinked. Is this feasible?
-
- The reason I ask is that I am trying to get DNS up and running on a
- single Sun - not attached to any large Sun network - so I don't need NIS.
-
- Perhaps more importantly, the OS that is installed doesn't have yp
- installed, and I don't know how to install
- just the yp files from the distribution cd-rom. (when I run 'ypinit'
- it complains that 'The directory /var/yp doesn't exist. Restore it from
- the distribution.' - nice idea, but how?).
