  14. since my last backup, I had trouble adding any user into our i386 machine.
  15. The problem is:  If I want to allow an extern user to use
  16. this machine via TCP/IP, we use the snap-admin tool to enter the user.
  17. Then it tries to create the users home directory and display a message
  18. on the screen that snap is unable to create the home dir. I take a
  19. look, but snap has created it. The next message, I think, and the greatest
  20. problem is NIS checks all hosts around, and if it came to itself, it dies.

  22. My question is: can I add user without the snap-tool (how), and will this
  23.         solve my problem.
