  13. The "extended" character set: start and end quotes, the raised 
  14. tilde, ligatures for fi and fl, etc., are apparently mapped 
  15. differently on the sun and on the NeXT.  This has unfortunate
  16. implications since I send print jobs from the Sun to the NeXT
  17. to be printed on a NeXT printer.  The result is that the extended
  18. characters in my documents are mapped to unintended extended 
  19. characters when printed.

  21. For example, the bullet prints as the yen symbol, the fi ligature 
  22. prints as AE, and the raised tilde prints as the florin.

  24. In fact just about every extended character is mapped differently,
  25. save a few which are mapped the same, apparently by chance.

  27. I'm hoping that someone else has also encountered this problem 
  28. and can inform me of a filter that can be placed between the
  29. Sun and the NeXT to perform the necessary transformation.
