- The "extended" character set: start and end quotes, the raised
- tilde, ligatures for fi and fl, etc., are apparently mapped
- differently on the sun and on the NeXT. This has unfortunate
- implications since I send print jobs from the Sun to the NeXT
- to be printed on a NeXT printer. The result is that the extended
- characters in my documents are mapped to unintended extended
- characters when printed.
-
- For example, the bullet prints as the yen symbol, the fi ligature
- prints as AE, and the raised tilde prints as the florin.
-
- In fact just about every extended character is mapped differently,
- save a few which are mapped the same, apparently by chance.
-
- I'm hoping that someone else has also encountered this problem
- and can inform me of a filter that can be placed between the
- Sun and the NeXT to perform the necessary transformation.
