- I recently asked about an error message generated whenever rcp and rsh
- were used after a patch upgrade -
- stty: TCGETS: Operation not supported on socket
-
- Thanks to all the helpful replies - it seems that we had moved an stty
- definition into the wrong startup file. The replies pointed out that we
- probably had `stty' in .cshrc rather than in .login where it belonged.
- Since we use bash, it was in .bashrc, instead of in .bash_profile, and
- the problem went away when it was moved. The reason it seemed to be a
- result of the patches was that, by coincidence, the first activity after
- the patches was tidying up the initialization scripts and rcp'ing them
- to the other machines!
