  13. I recently asked about an error message generated whenever rcp and rsh
  14. were used after a patch upgrade -  
  15. stty: TCGETS: Operation not supported on socket  
  16.  
  17. Thanks to all the helpful replies - it seems that we had moved an stty
  18. definition into the wrong startup file. The replies pointed out that we
  19. probably had `stty' in .cshrc rather than in .login where it belonged.
  20. Since we use bash, it was in .bashrc, instead of in .bash_profile, and 
  21. the problem went away when it was moved.  The reason it seemed to be a 
  22. result of the patches was that, by coincidence, the first activity after 
  23. the patches was tidying up the initialization scripts and rcp'ing them 
  24. to the other machines!
