- Fellow netters,
-
- We are planning the migration of several users from Novell to
- PC-NFS. Since we are trying to do this in a cost effective manner I am
- trying to figure out how much server is enough server.
-
- At most, I expect to have about 30-40 users on this machine who
- will require ~1-2Gbytes of mirrored storage. The people are currently
- getting by on a 386 Novell server. Should an IPC/X be adequate for the
- task? Would I need something bigger? The current model for these folks
- is to use the file server as the only repository for files. They do NOT
- copy files to the hard disk on the PC to work on locally. The work is done
- over the net. There will be no appreciable change in overall network traffic
- since the TCP traffic shares the same wire as the IPX traffic.
-
-
- As usual if there is sufficient interest, I will summarize for the
- net.
-
- Thanks,
-
