- I just got back from vacation, so I can't remember if I replied to this one
- or not. My group is responsible for IRIX security features. The SVR4
- derived version of IRIX will include shadow passwords as a system
- administrator configurable option. C2 security, as
- defined by the Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria, will not be
- a standard part of IRIX. Note that shadow passwords is a relatively
- minor part of C2. Please also note that C2 security features are offered
- by UNIX Systems Labs as an added cost option and is not part of the
- base source we purchased.
-
- If what you need/want is C2 level security, we can get you there, even
- in a 4.0.x environment, with a product called Trusted IRIX. It is in evaluation
- as a B1 product (i.e., it understands classification levels), but can be
- deconfigured to just do C2 kinds of stuff.
-
- Gimme a buzz if you want to talk more.
