  12. My thanks to both Dave Olson and Johnny Chee Wah @ the University of
  13. Toronto.  It turns out our Exabyte drives had essentially random DIP switch
  14. settings.  When these switches are set correctly, the drive responds with
  15. no problems.  The most relevant switch is #1 which controls an Exabyte
  16. memory test.  The test takes 65 seconds when enabled.  I'm surprised we
  17. didn't see problems because of other bogus switch settings, such as parity
  18. enabled/disabled or odd/even byte disconnect.

  20. Is there an SGI document that details supported Exabyte PROM versions and
  21. DIP switch settings?
