- My thanks to both Dave Olson and Johnny Chee Wah @ the University of
- Toronto. It turns out our Exabyte drives had essentially random DIP switch
- settings. When these switches are set correctly, the drive responds with
- no problems. The most relevant switch is #1 which controls an Exabyte
- memory test. The test takes 65 seconds when enabled. I'm surprised we
- didn't see problems because of other bogus switch settings, such as parity
- enabled/disabled or odd/even byte disconnect.
