- I think it would be nice if some future version of inst made it possible to
- see exactly what the prerequisites for an image are, beyond just saying if
- they are missing. And maybe a way of overriding these prerequisites, or of
- extracting specific files by name. Our lab server is running 4.0.1 now,
- and I don't want to upgrade it to 4.0.5 right away. I've upgraded my own
- Indigo, though, and I'd like to at least install the man pages for 4.0.5 on
- the server. I wanted to install the man pages for the scaler optimizer
- included with the 3.1 compilers. Inst refuses to install it locally on
- either the Indigo or our main server because of missing prerequisites. I
- don't know what could be a prerequisite for a man page, especially since
- copt is a new product with the 3.1 compilers.
-
- Also I noticed something funny with the 4.0.5 maint CD. After doing the
- default install, listing the CD again said the same products still needed
- to be installed. Installing them again didn't help either: exiting inst,
- and loading the CD again from scratch, inst still thought it needed to
- install the same stuff.
