  16. Periodically I've noticed that "who" will report users still logged in
  17. even though those users are not and have no processes running. I
  18. suspect that the problem is that /etc/utmp (or /etc/wtmp) is not
  19. getting updated correctly when a user logs off.

  21. Is there someway to force an update /etc/utmp or /etc/wtmp to
  22. accurately reflect current users, short of rebooting the system?
  23.  
  24. Also, are there any known login accounting problems with IRIX 4.0.5
  25. and XDM (with MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE security enabled)?
