- | Hi... we have a strange problem here of certain bitmaps causing our
- | indigos to crash. When people put, for example, "xsetroot -bitmap
- | /usr/include/X11/bitmaps/plaid" in their .xsession and log in, when
- | they log out, the computer crashes! If the bitmap is changed to
- | /usr/include/X11/bitmaps/granite it works fine. .../bitmaps/woman

-
- This sounds like you have a starter indigo with 4.0.1, and the 'wrong'
- PROMs. DMA of certain things (such as the granite background) would
- cause the system to crash. Aprox 300 such systems were shipped, and
- all were supposed to have long since been upgraded to a later OS
- release, or to have had the PROMs released. Apparently you got missed.
-
- If my diagnosis is correct, please call the TAC, tell them you have a
- starter Indigo with the granite background bug, and get them to ship
- you 4.0.5. It should be free; if not, ask them to escalate your
- call.
