- I have a SGI supported DAT and all works well on it. I read recently
- in this newsgroup about partitioning the tape and was hoping to get
- some more information on this. I would like to split a 60m tape
- (1.3 Gbyte) into 7 tape partitions so that a daily backup can be made
- of all changed files without having to do a tape change or overwrite
- the previous day's backup ( and thus allowing the system manager a
- week to go on holiday and still let the users delete old files at random )

- Three questions:
-
- 1) is this possible and if so how do I do it as it does not seem to be
- covered in the manuals.
-
- 2) if (1) is true, is there a nifty script to queue the backups each day
- or an ftp site etc with an example of this
-
- 3) if the backup is greater than the partition, will there be any
- disasterous consequnces or will the backup exit cleanly and leave
- appropriate warning messages.

- Thanks,
