- Our Sequent Balance 8000 has dveloped a strange problem. Circa 10 seconds
- after the "login:" prompt when going to Multiuser at reboot the first
- of our 12 CPU's LED goes on, and then another CPU goes "on", one every
- second or so until all 12 are lit. And then it is stone dead...
-
- Have anyone experienced something like this? If I don't go up multiuser
- but do the following in singleuser:
-
- online -a
- fsck -p
- mount -a
- ifconfig se0 130.236.253.2 up arp -trailers
- /usr/sbin/syslogd &
- /usr/sbin/inetd &
-
- Then I can log in just as normal via the network... And the machine seems
- to be working just fine (haven't stresstested it though).
-
- An idea I got was that perhaps it was one of the 16-port TTY cards that
- had gone bad (sitting on the multibus). But can that really make all the
- CPU:s to hang?
