- Hello fellow netters,
-
- I am currently programming an application that uses IPX to communicate with
- other copies of itself (it's a network chatbox).
- When I test it at a 'known' network so I know the available network numbers
- I send the packets across bridges by entering the correct network numbers in
- the IPX headers.
-
- But since I would like this little chatbox to work on ANY Novell network I
- would like to know if anybody has examples of (preferably C) code to get
- a list of all network numbers with workstations attached.
-
- Scanning all network numbers is out of the question since there are 256^6
- iterations and trying an unknown network number results in a 1..2 seconds wait.
-
- I've been looking into the possibilities of the Diagnostic calls but I don't
- have enough sample sources to build something myself.
-
- I also don't have access to a Novell setup regularly so that doesn't help much
- either .. (just a CS student with a whole lot of interest in Novell but no
- Novell network running in my room . . . yet)
-
- Would anybody please help me on this subject ?
-
- It would make me very happy if the 'Network Chat Box' could be used in the
- bigger Novell LAN's used.

-
- BTW, anybody interested in the single-segment version can download it at my
- BBS. I can't upload it to an ftp site myself, if anybody would be so kind...
