- It _is_ more healthy for _any_ machine, especially if it has a hard disk.
- Electrical transients and mechanical stresses originating from startups
- and shutdowns are hard on components.

- At the University of Puebla, where I used to work, there _still_ is a PC
- clone with a 20 Mb disk that has not been turned off in almost seven
- years, except for power failures. It has given no trouble whatsoever.
