  15. Actually, what would be nice would be a hardware ram disk.

  17. Take a reasonable scsi interface, and plug a zillion sockets on it. Set it up  
  18. with various optional cards.

  20. SCSI speeds are slow compared to memory.  Then we could go looting through all  
  21. those dead PC's, and haul out that 250 microsecond ram, and start stuffing  
  22. boards.

  25. I have seen ads in Digital Review for RAM disks for Vaxen.  They are actually  
  26. slower for sustained througput, but a factor of 3 faster for queued I/O.
