- Dear net,
- we just got our NeXTDimension board installed in one of our cubes (old one, was
- upgraded to 040). As far as I can see the only thing that came with it was the
- installation manual. OK, the thing seems to work and we now have two screens on that
- computer.
-
- BUT: what *can* you REALLY do with a NeXTDimension board?
- What kind of software is out there? What VCR do you need? Does it need single frame
- capability? VHS/U-matic? How can I control the VCR from the NeXT? What else?
-
- On the other hand, the reason why I *wanted* that thing is to make nice little movie
- animations of my molecules (I am working in the field of molecular dynamics). Single
- frame ray tracing, preview the movie on the screen until it pleases me, and then
- play it to a VCR in real time. Something along these lines. BUT: how do I go about
- it? What software is there to help me (I can do the ray tracing on an SGI, no
- problem there)? Does this video compression/expansion work? Software/hardware?
-
- I have no idea on where to start, so any hints are greatly appreciated!
