- Is there a simple way to limit the amount printed by a user. We have a
- Mac lab here where people just abuse the printing privileges to no end.
- We have a LaserWriter networked to about 12 macs and often come in to find
- that someone has printed stacks of stuff, only to leave it sitting on the
- printer. (At least we re-cycle, but printer and toner is killing our
- budget!) We don't want to lock-up the LaserWriter. Its needed by our
- users.
-
- Idealy we would like a utility that would allow us to limit the amount of
- printing a user could do. We have seen printers that requre a magnetic
- card to print, but thats more than we want to spend. We have heard of a
- utility that would lock the printer and require a floppy that would keep
- track of pages printed for each user (sort of a floppy-key system) but
- that won't be available until 1st quarter of '93 (or later). We need
- something sooner.
-
- Does anyone know if 'At Ease' will do what we want? How about AppleShare
- 3.0 Print Server? Does anyone know of an add on utility that might cut
- it? If so, please email me, and I'll summarize and post to the net if
- desired.
